The Democratic Party is broken and the only fix so far is “Blame Trump”!
Trump use to be a democrat, he was a Clinton democrat (Bill, not Hillary). But like a lot of people, the party left him behind and he looked elsewhere and he wound up showing that the populist claim of the left was just smoke and mirrors. Obama put people out of work – intentionally – and those people took their vengeance.
Who really put Trump in office? It was Democratic Party members fed up with the gloating, overbearing party leaders who kept saying “we know what is best for you” and the people being preached to did what all are entitled to, they voted. They voted for Trump
Now the Democratic Party is looking for way to get those people, and their loyalty – back and all they can come up with is “Russia did it”. The Dem Party has to stick with that because otherwise it could get embarrassing that either a Sanders supporter in the Hillary campaign leaked the emails or that the Intel community made up the whole thing to protect their jobs
But enough of the past, where is the future?
As an example of what is being done is reminiscent of the Occupy Movement. Everyone wanted to pursue their agenda and be in charge and it became “all chiefs and no indians” and the only thing that lives on is the name and the idea.
I had no problem with the basic idea, but to be arbitrarily included in the “99%” without being asked or my input included completely turned me off and I rejected the movement in whole, as “we know what is best for you”. They got what they deserved – ignominy.
As opposed to that, there IS the Tea Party Movement. They managed to become organized and become a power. They had their attempts at taking over, such as Michelle Bachmann, trying to assert leadership in Congress in order to gain power. But the body of the Tea Party overcame that.
The Dem Party has their own Michelle Bachmann, who SUCCEEDED. Her name is Nancy Pelosi. Her idea of defeating Trump? Money and make it a referendum about Trump. It is the Dem version of the Tea Party without understanding what the Tea Party is about, and never can. It’s about independence which the Dem Party is inherent organized against.
So what can be done to fix the Dem Party?
Honesty: Obama made a lot of wonderful promises that if he had followed through on would’ve made him a great president. He lied although he kept his healthcare promise, which has hurt more people then it helped, and divided the country. Got to be careful about the promises made and think them through.
Responsibility: Make a promise, keep it. But not all promises can be kept; so own up when you have to
Realistic: Quit making promises, in the first place, that can’t be kept. And the promises you do make, they need to be rooted in reality.
Ask: Don’t just assume because it’s inconvenient or you’re lazy (like Hillary)
Don’t preach: people on the left and right hate that the most. Don’t try to run their lives. You can’t run your own and you’re trying to run theirs?
Moderation: Extremism begets extremism. If Obama hadn’t been elected, Trump wouldn’t have been elected. People are tired, the majority, the REAL majority, is tired of all the BS (including Bernie Sanders) and just want peace, prosperity and security to live their lives without a bunch of self-serving politicians intruding. Have doubts about that? Just look at the recent French presidential election where BOTH right and left were REJECTED.
Camelot: get over it, it never happened. JFK was a womanizing bigot who sent American troops to Vietnam in the first place. Why do you think he would’ve withdrawn them?
Reality: All the current leaders are OBSOLETE. It is now the millennials who will lead. But they need to realize they are the MINORITY. They need leaders who exert common sense and courtesy. Not the “be polite to your elders” paradigm, but to ALL people regardless of any dividing factor – gender, race, preference – it has to be about PEOPLE inclusive
In conclusion, the Dem Party can either change or die. And right now they are dying and the only recourse is what happened in 1854 – create a new political party that reflects not only the majority will of America, but of the spirit of America, which is independence and rejection of the heavy-handed, invasive and overbearing party that Dems have come to be.
Yesterday’s Nixonites, today’s Obamaites
Looks like Trump will withdraw the US from the Climate Accord and democrats/liberals are upset.
First off, the Climate Accord is neither binding on the US, or even legal, because Congress never approved the accord, since it is a not a treaty, as specified by the Constitution
Second, Obama and world leaders openly COLLUDED to circumvent not only approval by Congress, but by fiat, to circumvent the US Constitution.
Third, the same democrat/liberals that are upset at the US withdrawing from an illegal treaty are the same ones that COLLUDED with Obama to bind the US to the accord.
Fourth, the same democrats/liberals are projecting their actions onto Trump by accusing him of colluding, without any proof, just supposition, with Russia to get elected.
It seem all the things the democrats/liberals are saying is what they know of themselves and want for themselves and afraid Trump will do unto them what they did unto America during Obama’s 8 years in office.
Obama cut corners and abused his powers to try and bind the US to the accord, like he did many other things, without seeking to make it a lasting, legal and durable treaty. Anyone that is angry that Trump will withdraw the US from the ACCORD, not TREATY, only have themselves to blame regardless of whether that person or persons are foreign or domestic.
I would hope that Trump would assemble a panel of all climate scientists, regardless of their position on the issue, to do unbiased, non-partisan and TRUE science rather then a bunch of idiots behaving like children that attack someone who says otherwise just to protect their funding. Those children, during the 1970’s, claimed the world was entering a new ice age and that we must stop burning fossil fuels, so their credibility is already suspect. It is whatever excuse can be used and herd the non-science public into backing their biased and bigoted positions on the climate.
My position is there is global warming, but it is not in the skies, but at our feet, in our cities – the heat islands that change weather patterns. No matter how clean the sky, it can absorb only so much heat and heat generation has to be reduced. But climate alarmists don’t bring that up because it would mean explaining that people have to cut back on all the lights used and air conditioning, especially on large buildings and those people, those citizens have to pay for it.
Alternative energy? All that does is let people go on, willy-nilly, generating heat and feel good about it.
In conclusion, fix it and fix it right instead of using short-term, ill thought-out ideas that are just a band-aid. Don’t throw money for funding at people trying to cheat you and scare you. Fix the cause, not the effect. Do real science instead of using bigotry, hate and greed to scare people. It’s time for real HONESTY on the climate because it is more then man-made.
If Hillary had been elected, the same digging for dirt and impeachment sentiment would be happening. So the pursuit of dirt on Trump; grin and bear it. Call it a witch-hunt or modern politics, but we are stuck with it to its natural conclusion, which could be the end of modern politics.
Robert Mueller, as Special Counsel, has sweeping powers to investigate, which would include both political parties and their principals along with the intel community apparent undermining of Trump. Come is known for taking copious notes, so what does he have about Obama, Holder & Lynch that WILL come out? Mueller use to be Comey’s boss and will know his habits and be able to play him like . . . . a recording device.
No one could be above being investigated – Trump, Clinton, Sanders, the RNC & DNC and the entire ilk we love to hate. It may be drain the swamp after all and we will see a lot of people with brooms and rugs and a sudden end to opposing Trump – or a lot of people indicted for abuse of power and obstruction of justice. There will be a bi-partisan cry of “witch-hunt” by Labor Day 🙂
Think of it, the only viable political parties could wind up being the Libertarians and the Greens – and I would hope a party of independents would form.
Did the Russians help Trump? No, they helped themselves and they are continuing to do so. There is this news report of Putin again interfering with America not to support Trump, as it might seem, but to pit one side against another and cause civil war.
To me, it seems Putin doesn’t really care who is president as long as he can turn Americans against one another to create a vacuum in the world that Russia can exploit. If Hillary had been elected the revelations would have continued till America was wrapped up in her impeachment.
And Trump, he’s not safe from Russian meddling, just read about Huey Long. It won’t be Russia that does the deed, apparently, but it will be Russia nonetheless. Though liberals might welcome that, they won’t welcome the consequences of persecution and imprisonment en masse.
Trump won the election fair and square, Hillary’s mistakes go back decades and Obama putting loyal Dems out of work gave Trump the election. Messing with ballot boxes was too trivial – and traceable – for Russia. It was people’s heads they wanted to mess with and create lasting dissension, civil war and the breakup of the US and he IS WINNING as long as people let it last.
The solution is recognize what is happening, put the past behind us and unite. We need to see that the extremism that the right and left has brought us – and quite possibly the world – to the destruction of everything.
Without a return to moderation and common sense the world will wind up in a nuclear war that will take care of all the problems. Each of the world’s players think they can control the chaos but people are not that easily controlled and there is a lot of anger that remains unresolved.
Make peace or face nuclear winter – it’s not a choice, it’s a responsibility
I recently read where a celebrity (will they ever get a clue) pointed out 75% of America did not vote for Trump, which is true enough but not completely honest. 75% of America did not vote for Hillary either.
Looking at the adult population total – 242,470,820 and that each candidate got roughly 60,000,000 votes (yes, I know Hillary got more, but I said ROUGHLY) there is the 25% for each and the 75% that didn’t vote for either.
Going into the election, it was obvious that each candidate had a lock on 20% of the vote (total between the two of 40% locked up) and that there 60% of the vote to be had to determine who won. Of that 60%, each candidate only managed to get 5 PERCENT of that 60%.
What did Hillary do? She appealed to the locked in base and rarely ventured beyond them, which was the big cities. She attempted, as she did in 2008, that she was invincible, that it was her due and if you selected her, you’d get your due and it would be more of the same, but with polish.
She forgot what 2008 meant – she lost. For me it was the deplorables comment. I wasn’t going to vote, but she shot her mouth off about people who are my friends who I know to be good and decent and I voted for Trump. It wasn’t what I wanted, but it was the decision Clinton made for me.
What did Trump do. He appealed to his base and then went out and expanded it by going everywhere and doing it several times. He drilled his message in and appealed to the disadvantaged that the Democratic Party had left behind with their, “we know what is best for you” attitude and put them out of work without any corresponding effort to create jobs and trusting to the market (liberals trusting the market, ha!) to put those people to work.
The 5% that elected Trump were DEMOCRATS tired of their party’s ineffectiveness and not thinking things through (or maybe thinking it through and the affects were deliberate) and not taking care of their people. The first rule of a good leader is “take care of your people” and Obama didn’t and they took Obama’s and the Democratic Party’s failings out on Hillary.
Hillary was no innocent and the Russians didn’t make those choices for her since being fired from the Watergate committee in 1973 and the repetitive mistakes that led to scandal after scandal since. It just took pointing out her character, which covered 40 years that she couldn’t be trusted. Clinton is a recidivist that can’t be rehabilitated.
Biggest mistake was handling the Sanders supporters and betraying them as soon as she had Sanders endorsement. The Sanders supporters were saying the same things about Clinton as did the right and they “voted” with their feet away from Clinton . . . . and worse for Sanders if he ever runs again for the feeling those supporters have of being sold out for gain by Sanders.
Ask those people about Obama, and his fellow Democrats, that he put out of work, why they voted as they did.
When voting, people vote emotions, like the Sanders supporters or they vote their pocketbook like the disaffected Democrats. The Sanders people, except the sheep, stuck to their beliefs and either didn’t vote or voted for Jill Stein.
The Democrats, that slim element, in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania, which gave Trump the win, voted their pocketbooks that ANY POLL should of caught. And Trump has delivered, doing more in one month then Obama did in 8 years, which has to be embarrassing and proves that Obama was never qualified to be president because he-just-couldn’t-deliver and never learned how.
Obama did prove that just anyone could be president and opened the door for someone like Trump.
So why the emphasis that the Russians defeated Clinton?
Everyone (the liberals at least) thought they had a “sure-thing” and, of course, they had to be cheated like all the losers throughout history that bet on a sure-thing and they cannot come to terms they cheated themselves by picking a better bet.
So, the future, what does it hold for the Democratic Party? There is the example of the Occupy: Wall Street movement, which imploded because everyone wanted to follow what they thought was the “right” goal and no one could achieve consensus – and you can already see this in the Democratic Party attempt to recover. You have gender rights, black rights, hispanic rights and all the other groups through the rainbow spectrum each attempting to gain control.
What do the Democrats need to recover? They need Donald Trump – a populist who can go out and do revival tent shows and drum up support from the doubters. But for Trump and any populist is the lesson of Huey Long.
Will Trump succeed? No. Will the Democrats succeed? No. The saying “empire follows the sun” is true, but it is not just America’s day in the sun that has passed, it is the whole planet. There is a new day coming, but a new dark age first. People’s greed made it so and that is the one thing you can count on.
So who did Hillary in? Partly herself, partly Obama, partly the Democratic National Committee. Each forgot that when you stick your head in the sand, people can still see that (you’re) ass.
If the Democrats want any legitimacy going forward, they will need to admit they lost and that it was their own fault, otherwise the cries of illegitimacy will come back to haunt them just like the Obama years already have.
