What OPEC fails to see
1) It’s not just oil that fracking releases – it’s oil AND gas
2) The US is placing increased emphasis on natural gas use to fight climate change
3) Standard OPEC greed will return when US production decreases and fracking will return if it decreases, but it won’t. People want the natural gas and you get the oil with the gas
4) The oil being produced in the US is ultralight, which means it’s cheaper to refine and more profit per barrel
5) If the US can produce enough for itself of low polluting ultralight, who needs heavy, hard to refine and heavy polluting oil from Venezuela? I doubt Venezuela will ever have a US market again.
6) Once the Canadian fracking fully reaches the US, the small OPEC producers will have no choice bu to quit or sell at even lower prices
7) OPEC doesn’t seem to realize that energy independence in the US is a mantra and a holy grail. If the US produces an abundance, there is no need for OPEC oil at any price short of free.
8) If the US keeps producing, it can become a net exporter and eat up OPEC market share. Europe is tied of twisting in the political winds of people they disagree with.
OPEC is learning only when their oil is cheap do they have any influence. But they got greedy and thought the good years couldn’t end. America should be grateful to Pres. Obama for this oil boom . . . if he hadn’t tried to kill the oil industry, we would never have had the shale boom and Big Oil would still be pursuing hard to get, harder to refine conventional oil supplies.
In one fell swoop, Pres Obama put serious hurt to renewal energy, OPEC and lowered the cost of energy while driving trying to drive the price up. With a friend like him for enviros and Arabs, who needs enemies?
Sometimes the ends do justify the means, Barry 😆
As for OPEC, you can’t win for losing 😎
It took 300 years after jesus was born to quash the idea that Jesus was human, and not divine
(325 AD)The Arian concept of Christ is that the Son of God did not always exist, but was created by—and is therefore distinct from—God the Father. This belief is grounded in the Gospel of John (14:28) passage: “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.”
Then another 11 years to degree when Jesus was born
Yule was an indigenous midwinter festival celebrated by the Germanic peoples, Christmas was absorbed into the 12 day Yule celebrations in 336 AD when Pope Julius declared the birth of Jesus to have been on December 25
As for when Jesus was actually born, the description in the Bible of the manger scene, with newborn animals, place it around late March or early April
It really makes me think that the Bible was edited to serve an agenda of gaining power and influence and to manipulate people through guilt and bribery.
If a government tinkered with what is suppose to be facts and manipulated them for personal gain, people would be upset and demand heads. That it is the Bible, faith trumps facts and what the devout is true regardless of the actual truth.
Is this anyway to run a religion that preaches morality, integrity, humility and service? You have clergy wanting to know your innermost secrets so you can come to terms with that information and those clergy will not come to terms with their own lies.
Perhaps no custom reveals our character as a Nation so clearly as our celebration of Thanksgiving Day. Rooted deeply in our Judeo-Christian heritage, the practice of offering thanksgiving underscores our unshakeable belief in God as the foundation of our Nation and our firm reliance upon Him from Whom all blessings flow. Both as individuals and as a people, we join with the Psalmist in song and praise: “Give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good.”
One of the most inspiring portrayals of American history is that of George Washington on his knees in the snow at Valley Forge. That moving image personifies and testifies to our Founders’ dependence upon Divine Providence during the darkest hours of our Revolutionary struggle. It was then-when our mettle as a Nation was tested most severely—that the Sovereign and Judge of nations heard our plea and came to our assistance in the form of aid from France. Thereupon General Washington immediately called for a special day of thanksgiving among his troops.
Eleven years later, President Washington, at the request of the Congress, first proclaimed November 26, 1789, as Thanksgiving Day. In his Thanksgiving Day Proclamation, President Washington exhorted the people of the United States to observe “a day of public thanksgiving and prayer” so that they might acknowledge “with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.” Washington also reminded us that “it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor.”
Today let us take heart from the noble example of our first President. Let us pause from our many activities to give thanks to Almighty God for our bountiful harvests and abundant freedoms. Let us call upon Him for continued guidance and assistance in all our endeavors. And let us ever be mindful of the faith and spiritual values that have made our Nation great and that alone can keep us great. With joy and gratitude in our hearts, let us sing those stirring stanzas:
O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee.
Now, Therefore, I, Ronald Reagan, President of the United States of America, in the spirit of George Washington and the Founders, do hereby proclaim Thursday, November 27, 1986, as a National Day of Thanksgiving, and I call upon every citizen of this great Nation to gather together in homes and places of worship on that day of thanks to affirm by their prayers and their gratitude the many blessings bestowed upon this land and its people.
In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand this thirteenth day of October, in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and eighty-six, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and eleventh.
As Judaism says, there will always be more prophets. That, to me, means to me that God will send us messengers with his word, but that the messengers themselves are unimportant. It is the word of God that is important. When people get involved though, that word can be corrupted to serve the ends of the messenger or his disciples. These messengers, in their arrogance will try and promote themselves over God; that only through them can you reach whatever comes after life is over – Olam Ha-Ba, Heaven or Paradise. So it is up to each of us to find God’s Truth in those messages to act upon.
Christianity is under attack in America for one main reason: Moral Authority
By default moral authority as been part of conservative ideology for a very long time. But now liberals are gang-pressing to get that authority for themselves not as part of religion but as of a political agenda to re-shape America.
Liberals will tell you they are tired of being told what to. In actuality they want to be able to tell people how to live their lives and make it stick. They replace God with the power of the state, “you will have no God before the government (of liberals).
Oddly enough it is Christians who have helping the most in this shift of power.
1 – Nowhere in the Bible does it say when Jesus was born
2 – Which beggars a question, why doesn’t it? The Bible has everything else about Jesus’ birth.
1 – It doesn’t say when, because it doesn’t matter when
2 – Faith is built on trust that is built on truth. If someone is not being true and honest then you have nothing to believe. Considering the significance of Christmas and that Christianity is built on it, it matters. It means that the Bible was edited to suit the perceived need.
2 – And if it doesn’t matter then the holiday doesn’t matter
The upshot of that conversation is truth is irrelevant to faith. And if truth conflicts with that faith, then faith is right because a person believes. Morality and ethics are given over and good intentions become the path to hell.
Belief superseding fact is a people thing and not limited to religion. But religion (Christianity) is suppose to set moral standards and be a moral authority. But with just Christmas alone, it is known that the Bible had Jesus date of birth edited out, the holiday of Winterfest/Saturnalia hijacked and given over to Jesus birth.
Then there is all the corruption and depravity that is coming to light. It goes back decades (centuries?) and has been covered up and some long known. It’s Christianity’s dirty little secret and perhaps was part of the reason for the Protestant Reformation that even “decent” people didn’t discuss but let continue happen. It makes Christianity look like Sodom and Gomorrah
To me, the exchange with a devout Christian acknowledges that Christmas is not about Jesus, but about the spirit. Which means the words “Merry Christmas” is incorrect. But the politically correct “Happy Holidays” is incorrect, too. To lump it together and honor the real reason would “Happy Winter Solstice” and the holiday “Winterfest”, to celebrate the rebirth and renewal of all that is good. It also honors, rather then disrespecting, all of a person’s ancestors back to the beginning of time and not the manipulation and power mongering of one religion.
Christians say, “and the truth shall set you free”, but they will not face up to the truth of the facts, some in the Bible. Just because you lie to yourself, telling others those lies doesn’t make them true and causes those others to scorn you and question everything you say regardless of if some is true. It is like telling one lie and anything true you say will be disbelieved. There is great truth in the Bible hidden behind the editing the authors of the Bible did to gain power and influence in the shortest time. Which in itself reveals a lack of faith. If they had true faith, then they would’ve known they’d succeed in time.
Christianity continues to marginalize itself.
It’s finding your own heart and you will find your faith and the spirit. That is the truth that will set you free.
I am not an atheist – I believe in God existence
I am not an agnostic – I know God and have faith
I am not a Christian – I reject the tenets of guilt and manipulation
I am responsible – my mistakes are my own
Jesus did not die for my sins, he died for his own
Jesus is not the only path, nor does he decide. God does
Mohammed is not the last word on God because God has not spoke. All we have are people saying they speak for God.
Christianity and Islam are, by their own admission, splinter groups of Judaism
Christianity and Islam are based on lack of faith. If they had something better, they don’t need the Old Testament to justify their existence.
Organized religion is not needed for morality and ethics – those existed long before. Morality and ethics are the rules people have to live in harmony and religion only repeats lessons learned.
Judaism, Christianity and Islam are just extra layers of bureaucracy, “an administrative policy-making group” that inserts itself between humanity and God to tell people how to live that serves their interests rather then God’s.
There is only one God and he has not told us his name.
People have faith because they believe – believe so hard it must be true
I have faith because I have experience – I died and was revived.
When I died was no white light, no prophet of any kind. But God did come to me. I know this as a child knows a parent, there is no mistake. And when I was revived, it was like the first breath a baby takes.
Drugs, sweat lodges and hysterical belief reach into you and give you back yourself, like an echo. It frees your mind up, like LSD, to be who you are. But it is not reaching out to God
In my life I have had many mind altering experiences that seemed to impart good ideas. My time dead and then revived was unlike that. I just knew that God reached out to me.
This doesn’t mean I look down on organized religion. people need faith, and irrational kind of faith that can’t be justified, to get through what would otherwise break a person. But if they truly had the faith they say they do, they wouldn’t need to build monuments to their prophet or version of God. True faith comes from the heart and is something that you don’t need to talk about unless it is to help someone searching for their faith. And then that is one-on-one.
Find your own heart and you will find your faith and the spirit. You don’t need anyone to speak on your behalf to God, God is there anytime, everywhere when you want to reach out.
When you hear someone yelling how great their God is, remember the Shakespearian quote, “I think he doth protest too much”
“Attorney Lizz Brown said on MSNBC’s “Politics Nation” that if there are no charges brought against Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson, the “quality and the value of black life does not exist.”
So this woman is saying only black lives have value and no others do . . . . no person, except as decided by blacks should live.
So yes, I agree, this episode has set back BLACK race relations a generation. As for other races, blacks are even now victimizing them by looting and burning their stores and businesses. These stores and businesses will leave and the black poverty rate will increase and the number of blacks killed by other blacks will increase.
It wasn’t generally shown, but there are pictures taken of the police officer in the hospital and the shooting. He was severely beaten and mauled like someone was trying to kill him and that officer shot his assailant. Every person, regardless of who they are, is entitled to use deadly force to protect their life. That is written into the law of very state.
The family of Michael brown don’t want justice, if they did they listen to all the evidence and decide. They don’t care, they want revenge for someone they think they knew but hadn’t in a long time.
The looters, they don’t want anything other then loot and preferential treatment. When they talk about racism, they should look in the mirror.
They don’t want civil rights, they want power over everyone else, they want to be king of the hill
