And the meek shall . . . .

In case you can’t guess, I’m a biker – an old school biker. I ain’t no cyclist. If you ain’t going, you aren’t doing. It just takes a bike, most any bike, a need for speed and freedom.

FoxNews Bias Alert

The FowNews web site has a nearly continuous posting regarding what they regard as bias against Mitt Romney. But the latest is about the secondary layer of media outlets politicizing both Romney’s AND Obama’s response to Hurricane Sandy. These are the ones that criticized Obama for trying to look leader-like and the ones that criticized Romney for his relief efforts.

That’s only to be expected, that’s why that media is secondary, like remora leaching off a shark. Their very extremism is what draws people to them so they get the attention they want and money from ads. Virtuous is not the word to describe this media level. Bias and extremism is their bread and butter

That’s just now, about the secondary media. But FoxNews Bias Alert has gone after first line news media like CNN and MSNBC big time, and rightly so, but more rightly so MSNBC. CNN as been trying to lean as left as possible without appearing to do so except for people like Soledad O’Brien. But MSNBC, and Chris Matthews with his reverse Klan-like remarks, is outright offensive. MSNBC has adopted the motto, “Lean Forward” as a play on the “Forward” motto of the Obama campaign committee. But to me it is “Lean Backwards” to a time of bigotry, no civil rights, race baiting and whipping up hatred. As I said, Klan-like techniques used by the left against the right.

CNN does walk a line and leans right on occasion. But what CNN does seems to be to be able to show their balance. But reading it long-term you get the sense of the reporting not being balanced. What CNN is doing is worse then MSNBC in terms of integrity. MSNBC hangs a sign that says, “warning, rabid dog, enter at your own risk”. CNN tries to pull the wool over your eyes and believes in the PT Barnum saying, “there’s a sucker born every minute”

This is unacceptable bias and unreasonable for news media that is suppose to be reporting and letting people form their own opinions instead of giving a person their (you) opinion. But is there acceptable bias? I believe yes.

The Fox Bias Alert has lambasted the NY Times for endorsing and supporting Pres Obama. But that has been the province of newspapers since newspapers began. How many times have you seen a list of endorsements for a candidate and that list includes (or not) a newspaper. The NYT has made their intent clear and you read what they write with that in mind.

The FoxNews Bias Alert needs to learn the difference between bias and bigotry. Bias (and prejudice) means making choices of whom you favor. But bigotry and racism (straight-up or reverse) have no place in our lives.

And to be clear about bias and prejudice, I am both. My family comes first, then friends, then close acquaintances and so on and on. And when I am selecting a candidate to vote for, I think of those people and, hopefully, what serves them best.

If there is an election tie

It hasn’t been very prominent in media discussions, but in the event that neither Presidential candidate gets the necessary 270 electoral votes, a tie actually, the the House of Representatives votes to select the President and the Senate votes to select the Veep. Considering party control of Congress that would have Romney as President and Biden as Veep

It has happened before:

In 1800, the Democratic-Republican Party again nominated Jefferson for President, and also nominated Aaron Burr for Vice President. After the election, Jefferson and Burr both obtained a majority of electoral votes, but tied one another with 73 votes each. Since ballots did not distinguish between votes for President and votes for Vice President, every ballot cast for Burr technically counted as a vote for him to become President, despite Jefferson clearly being his party’s first choice. Lacking a clear winner by constitutional standards, the election had to be decided by the House of Representatives pursuant to the Constitution’s contingency election provision. (Wikipedia)

Before that happens there could be a recount of the popular vote to change the electoral vote. But there is an interesteing kicker because of the aforementioned election and it’s aftermath when the 14th Amendment was enacted.

Section 2 of the Fourteenth Amendment allows for a state’s representation in the House of Representatives to be reduced to the extent that state unconstitutionally denies people the right to vote.(Wikipedia)

The Obama administration has been aggressively persuing variuos states over their alleged efforts to block people from voting. The Obama administration could sue in court to have those states representation reduced in the House to, what would hopefully for Pres Obama, be less then what the republican representation. But there is a tit-for-tat there of having Democratic representation reduced for voter fraud.

It could 2000 all over again with a vengeance because Pres Obama plays by Chicago rules where all is fair where, “if you’re not lying, cheating or stealing then you’re not trying hard enough”

But my feeling is Romney by 2

Claims by Iran

For reference, there is this article.

It continues to puzzle me about the Iranian leadership making various claims of military capability and what can be done. It is as if they can attack and no one will do anything in return. Or has the ability to counter-defend against an attack. Iran should remember that Pres Bush, when he was demanding that Afghanistan turn over bin Laden, told the Afghani government that the US would come get him, the Afghani government refused to believe it would happen. Now Afghanistan is under new management

Obama is a weak President but weak Presidents can be even more dangerous then strong Presidents because they are unpredictable and prone to do stupid things to prove their manhood. And has we have seen in school shootings, the kid that gets bullied can show up with a gun and take care of the problem.

The US has the ability to do urban renewal on downtown Tehran . . . . or turn it into a parking lot.

There is a cultural problem here. The Iranians believe in trash talking to prove their cojones and the US doesn’t. The US just believes you step up and do what you say. At some point the Iranians will make a mistake and if it’s Pres Obama, he might make the mistake of turning Tehran into a parking lot before trying urban renewal.
